LONGMONT, Colo. - June 17, 2009 - Christian Anderson, a leading broker associate with Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage in Longmont, recently assisted Staff Sergeant John Jones through the Homes for Our Troops organization. On May 28 and 29, 2009, Anderson joined representatives of Creation Painting of Longmont and Sharp Arrow Painting of Berthoud to paint the exterior of Jones' new home in Fort Collins. Homes for Our Troops is a non-profit, non-partisan, 501(c)(3) organization founded in 2004 to help build homes for those who have selflessly given to their country and have returned home with serious disabilities and injuries.
"It was very personally rewarding to help one of our servicemen," said Anderson. "John was serving in Iraq with the 1st Battalion/7th Marines when he was severely injured on January 3, 2005. John was in the 7th vehicle of a 35-vehicle convoy when it hit a double-stacked anti-tank mine which exploded under his Hummer, launching him 25 feet through the top of the vehicle. He is currently living in a rented house with his wife Amber and their three children. Homes for Our Troops is dedicated to helping build a home for the Jones family that will accommodate his needs and enable him and his family to concentrate on recovery and their future. It's a great organization and I was privileged to help."
Homes for Our Troops assists severely injured servicemen and women and their immediate families by raising donations of money, building materials and professional labor and then coordinating the process of building a new home or adapting an existing home for handicapped accessibility. The finished home is then given to the veteran. All services provided by Homes for Our Troops are at no cost to the veterans it serves. Contributions are tax deductible.
