FORT COLLINS - Stacie Willoughby, a broker associate with Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage in Fort Collins, is volunteering her time and drag racing expertise to assist the Colorado State Patrol with its "Take It To The Track" endeavor to help prevent street racing. Willoughby drag races her high performance Honda CRX on the NHRA drag racing circuit in Colorado and at national events. She was recently a guest speaker at a luncheon and awards ceremony attended by members of 25 law enforcement agencies from throughout the metro Denver area, including the Colorado State Patrol (CSP).
"The 'Take It To The Track, Alive at 25' program is a non-profit created by the CSP and other agencies to bring street racers to Bandimere Speedway so they can race in a safe, controlled environment," said Willoughby. "These 'test and tune' nights at the track include state troopers racing mostly against the younger generation. I'm volunteering my time with CSP and Bandimere Speedway in order to help make the program more successful. Because I started my racing career by street racing, the CSP felt I would be a good example of someone who has taken her passion for racing to a legitimate racing career at sanctioned NHRA events."
"These races take place from April through October on Wednesday nights, with a total of 21 events," Stacie continued. "I will be at most of these events with my CRX as a show of support. I will also be at a press conference on April 18th that will introduce the sponsors of the program and the various agencies that will help during 2007. I will race my Honda against a law enforcement officer at this event held at Bandimere."
