COLORADO SPRINGS - Team Coldwell Banker Residential, comprised of Coldwell Banker broker associates, staff members and their family and friends, will participate in the 2008 Komen Colorado Springs Race for the Cure scheduled for September 7, 2008 at the Garden of the Gods Park. Ashley Wilson, Relocation Sales Manager for Coldwell Banker in Colorado Springs and captain of Team Coldwell Banker Residential, is spearheading the team’s fundraising effort to help save lives through breast cancer research and treatment.
"Our team will be participating in the 5K run/walk to raise money for breast cancer research and we are encouraging everyone to help us reach our team's goal of raising $1,000," said Wilson. "One in eight women will be stricken with breast cancer in her lifetime. The Komen Colorado Springs Race for the Cure raises money to fund education, screening and treatment programs for these women and thousands of others in our own community and supports the national search for a cure. Team Coldwell Banker Residential includes Ashley Wilson, Nancy Bruner, Kris Korinek, Ryan Korinek, Jonathan Wilson, Megan Wilson, and Zachary Wilson. The Komen Race for the Cure series is the largest series of 5K run/walks in the world. Since its origination in Dallas in 1983, the Komen Race for the Cure series has grown from one local race with 800 participants to an international series of 117 races with more than 1.3 million participants.
Seventy-five percent of the net proceeds from the Komen Colorado Springs Race for the Cure remains in El Paso, Teller, and Pueblo counties to support breast cancer programs and activities. Twenty-five percent goes to research programs at the national level. No money from the Colorado Springs affiliate is used for overhead at the national level.
